jakarta – Former Jakarta governor Anies Baswedan said this year’s Jakarta governorship election is “unique” because not all candidates can vote in the capital, which is seen as a challenge to Ridwan Attack on the candidate combination of Ridwan Kamil and Suswono.
“This regional election is very unique. Have all candidates voted in Jakarta? Anis said after casting his vote at a polling station in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta on Wednesday morning.

Many saw the announcement as a blow to the Ridwan Kamil-Suswono couple, who are supported by the KIM party, which is formed by President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President The man behind President Gibran Raqabmin Raqqa’s victory in February’s presidential election.
Former West Java governor Ridwan was unable to vote in the Jakarta elections because he was still legally registered as a resident of Bandung, West Java. Suswono, meanwhile, is registered as a resident of Bogor, one of the satellite cities of Jakarta in West Java.

In response to Anies’ statement, Ridwan told reporters that his legal residence does not affect his commitment to developing Jakarta.
“If you want to laugh, then laugh. But one thing is for sure, we remain committed to building our democracy,” he said.
More than 8 million registered voters in the capital are expected to cast their ballots on Wednesday to choose from three candidates seeking the capital’s top job.
The most closely watched contest is between Ridwan and his rival, former cabinet secretary Pramono Anon, nominated by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P). Pramono is running with actor and politician Rano Cano.
